Not much posting taking place here at DragonWorks Rocketry, as many other activities have taken precedence over rocketry: Most recently, thunderstorms which have been ravaging North Alabama and many other surrounding counties, cities and states, claimed my personal computer Friday morning. I am now working from a new system, and more importantly, only the power supply and motherboard were damaged in the lightning storm, my hard drive was salvaged in its entirety and now resides as a back-up for our new computer.
So my computer went bye-bye, my sons band activities have been time consuming, my XBOX 360 developed the dreaded “Red-Ring-of-Death”and the persistent weather is cancelling launches left and right. MASS HYSTERIA! Nonetheless, I try to keep DragonWorks Rocketry updated in some form or fashion, if only to update links etc.
Next month I will be attending Southern Thunder 2009, the premier launch event of the Southeast, hosted by MC2 and HARA. I hope to be there for all 3 days, Fri is a TRA research launch, followed by 2 full days under Southern Skies with family, friends and rocket enthusiasts from all over…I can hardly wait, this will be my first launch since Southern Thunder 2008, so I am do for some launch time.
Beyond this event, I will have to play it by ear. Marching Season for my sons school, Sparkman High School, will be ramping up again, and I am usually pre-occupied with all of the activities related to transportation and equipment for the band events. My goals however, is to make it to at least one more launch at the Manchester, TN flying field, probably a research launch, and then try to get down and fly with the great folks at the Phoenix MissileWorks. They have a huge flying site near Childersburg, AL.
The economy has slowed my pace for obtaining my L.E.U.P, essentially I have used up my funds squirreled away for this process, to help keep the household budget on track. But rest assured, as soon as we are able, I will get back on track to complete the process.
I have a 4″ Mad Dog Dual deploy rocket kit
om Performance Rocketry that I am dying to get started on, but my shop is temporarily out of commission…I hate to plan my rocket activities so sparsely, but I hope to start this rocket some time this year (?) “What The…!?! This Year!!” That’s the plan anyways…
As for my XBOX activities…Battlefield Bad Company and Mass Effect have opened up my eyes to whole new way to enjoy “wasting-my-life-away”
Thats all for now…
Johnnie
